Environmental Impact Assessment

Process of examining the anticipated environmental effects of a proposed project.

An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is the process of examining the anticipated environmental effects of a proposed project. The purpose of EIAs is typically to assess any potential impacts and to develop and assess measures to avoid or mitigate those impacts, if the project was to be carried out.
