Cetaceans
Whales, dolphins, and porpoises are marine mammals that are part of the taxonomic order Cetacea. Cetaceans can be further subdivided into toothed whales (dolphins, porpoises, narwhal, beluga, beaked, and sperm whales) and baleen whales (blue, gray, humpback, and bowhead whales). Offshore renewable energy devices may affect cetaceans in a variety of ways, including attraction to or avoidance of project sites, collision with dynamic devices, and impacts from noise.
