Physical Environment
The physical environment surrounding a land-based wind, offshore wind, or marine renewable energy device may be susceptible to impacts from habitat changes and changes in flow. If changes in flow occur due to the physical presence of offshore renewable energy devices, water quality and sediment transport within the nearfield habitat may be affected. Changes to the physical environment may also affect nutrient concentrations and ecosystem processses, such as food webs.
