Marine Energy Research and Innovation Center (MERIC)
The interdisciplinary research developed at MERIC allows to understand the ecosystem dynamics related to the extraction of marine renewable energy, as well as how to adapt the current technologies to the extreme conditions of Chile.
At the same time, MERIC examines the international experience related to procedures, regulations and public policies that could be adapted to the Chilean context. We look for ensuring an appropriate management of social and environmental impacts of marine renewable energy projects, always caring for the communities and their interests, and working on models and protocols to support the decision making process.
