The US Minerals Management Service (MMS) was an agency of the United States Department of the Interior that managed the nation's natural gas, oil and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf (OCS).
The US Minerals Management Service (MMS) has been replaced by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) as part of a major reorganization. BOEM promotes energy independence, environmental protection and economic development through responsible, science-based management of offshore conventional and renewable energy and marine mineral resources.
