The 2024 UMERC+METS Marine Energy Research Conference will be held in Duluth, Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior from August 7-9, 2024, and hosted by the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
UMERC+METS provides a venue where technical experts can publish and present marine energy research that helps accelerate the pace of technology, and sector, development. Holding UMERC and METS together provides researchers with the invaluable opportunity to come together and interact with their peers from across the nation.
2024 UMERC+METS Call for Papers
The METS and UMERC 2024 organizing committees seek short abstracts focusing on the design, analysis, environmental evaluation, and socio-economic evaluation of wave energy, water current energy, and ocean thermal energy converter technologies. Areas of interest include:
- Device or component design, analysis, simulation, and optimization
- Array layout and optimization
- Device deployment strategies
- Operations and maintenance strategies
- Environmental effects evaluation and simulation
- Resource assessment and characterization
- Laboratory and open-water experimental testing of devices or components
- Economic considerations
- Societal considerations, including government policy and regulation
- Code validation and verification
Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be allowed to give a podium presentation or participate in the poster session. Authors can write a short paper/extended abstract (3-5 pages) for online conference proceedings. The potential for a special journal issue for full papers is also being explored.
