Tidal Energy Ltd (TEL) installed and tested a full-scale prototype tidal stream generating device known as DeltaStream™ in Ramsey Sound, Pembrokeshire in September 2016. The demonstration device, which was connected to the grid, was intended to provide more information on how successful a full scale commercial array would be in generating electricity. However, DeltaStream had developed a fault in its sonar system and could no longer operate within its licence. Tidal Energy Ltd went into administration in October.
