HOFOR (Hovedstadsområdets Forsynings A/S)

HOFOR is the Capital Region's utility company. We supply water, heat, city gas, district cooling and handle wastewater for more than a million customers. We also build wind turbines and solar parks for Denmark's green transition. And we help ensure that you can safely jump into the harbor pool most days .

All year round, we focus on our customers' everyday lives. This means we make sure you can get healthy and clean water from your taps, have heat in your living room on cold days and cook on your gas stove.

We climate-proof cities
We also have a responsibility for the climate challenges. We are investing in securing the capital area against the growing volumes of water – because both heavy rain, rising groundwater and storm surges threaten the cities. Together with the municipalities and other utility companies, we must find joint solutions that can solve several water challenges at once. We are already in full swing to secure the cities against future water masses. This includes everything from rain beds and green urban spaces, to underground tunnels and basins.  

Enough drinking water for everyone
At the same time, there is pressure on the water supply. Larger cities, longer drought periods and groundwater pollution are all affecting our ability to produce enough drinking water. Our task is to ensure drinking water for one million citizens and businesses in the capital area all year round.

We have 150 years of knowledge, great ambitions and work closely with our eight owner municipalities, customers, authorities and the business community to create sustainable cities and well-functioning everyday lives. We must all consume smarter so that we can live and reside in cities both now and in the future.
