There will be a virtual meeting of the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium Advisory Board on Wednesday, October 15 from 12-1pm. The Advisory Board will hear from awardees launching their projects this month through the Research Consortium’s second round of funding. These projects reflect top research priorities identified by the Consortium Advisory Board. The webinar will include updates from:
- Gulf of Maine Research Institute
- Research topic: assessing social, cultural, and economic impacts of floating offshore wind on fishing communities. This assessment is a follow-up to the baseline data inventory that was completed last year by Karp Strategies.
- University of Maine
- Research topic: evaluating marine wildlife entanglement risks and potential debris retrieval technologies.
- Biodiversity Research Institute
- Research topic: collecting baseline acoustic data to understand bat species' presence and abundance in the Gulf of Maine.
