Thornton Bank Offshore Wind Farm Annual Report 2015

Abstract

This technical memo analyzes the scour depth evolution around jacket foundations of the Thornton Bank Offshore Wind Farm, focusing on multibeam survey data collected between 2011-2015. The study examines scour development for 48 wind turbine foundations installed across Areas A and B.

Key findings include:

  • Scour depth varies with water depth
  • Area B foundations reached equilibrium scour depth
  • Area A foundations still experiencing active scour
  • Equilibrium scour depth typically 1-2m
  • Scour depth inversely proportional to installation depth

The analysis provides critical insights into seabed morphological changes around offshore wind turbine foundations.
