Stazione Romana Osservazione e Protezione Uccelli (SROPU)

Founded in 1965, the SROPU is among the oldest scientific associations dedicated to ornithology in the Italian panorama.

Legally recognized since 1982 as a non-profit association, it has included and still includes among its ranks dozens of ornithologists and enthusiasts from the academic world, from the main national research institutes and bodies and from environmentalist associations such as Fulco Pratesi, honorary president of WWF Italy as well as founder, together with Hardy Reichelt, of SROPU itself.

Scientific study and research, aimed at the conservation and management of avifauna at a local, national and international level, are the main objective of the association.
