The IWG for ocean energy and the IWG for wind energy (SET Plan Implementation Working Groups) invites you to a joint offshore wind and ocean energy workshop taking place in Brussels and online at 10:30-12:30 CEST on the 18th of October.
The purpose of the workshop is to bring together representatives from both ocean energy and wind ETIP and IWG communities to identify Research & Innovation topics on co-location of these two technologies.
The outcomes of this workshop will be fed into EU funding programmes with an objective of resulting in funding opportunities in future calls, notably under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership and the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership.
Topics discussed by the participants during this workshop will include:
- Exploration of system integration needs to support the development of co-located projects (offshore wind and wave);
- Shared use of space for generation projects (offshore wind, wave, floating solar PV);
- More efficient use of shared infrastructure assets (intra-array cables, collection hubs, export cables, etc.);
- More efficient offshore operations and maintenance.
The workshop will aim at answering the following questions:
- What are the main issues for co-location from a technical perspective?
- What are the benefits of co-location from an economical perspective?
- What are the barriers from a regulatory perspective?
