AB - This report analyzes results from the first year of the avian and bat mortality monitoring at the Buena Vista Wind Farm (Buena Vista) in the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area. The monitoring was conducted by Insignia Environmental (Insignia) on behalf of the Contra Costa County Department of Conservation and Development. An estimation of the overall mortality was developed through a combination of trials including direct mortality surveys, searcher efficiency trials, and scavenging trials. In addition to mortality estimates, data was also collected relating to the overall usage of the site and surrounding area by local avian species.
