The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA)
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia (IFBA), created on December 29, 2008, when Law nº 11892 was passed , responsible for instituting the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education and transformed the Federal Center of Technological Education of Bahia (CEFET) in the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC) , and member of the National Council of Institutions of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education (Conif), has a legal nature of autarchy, holding administrative, patrimonial, financial, didactic-pedagogical and disciplinary autonomy.
The basis of professional technical education, however, was already well established for much longer, since 1909, the year in which President Nilo Peçanha built, in just three months, the first 19 schools for Apprentice Craftsmen , which would revolutionize the education of a country .
