Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH)

The BSH is the central maritime authority in Germany. Responsible for shipping. For marine protection. For offshore. For marine surveying. For marine data. For maritime research.

In total, 1,000 employees work in over 100 different professions at locations in Hamburg and Rostock, as well as on five survey, wreck search, and research ships. They support shipping, promote sustainable use of the seas, and protect the marine environment—and thus the climate—for future generations.

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency is a federal authority under the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV).
