The next edition of Sea Scotland Conference will take place on the 8th June 2023 at the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute.
Sea Scotland is an annual conference series which has been held since 2016 and aims to bring together the marine community and facilitate debate on critical issues facing the marine environment in Scotland. It is co-ordinated by a Steering Group comprising Scottish Environment LINK and their Marine Group Members, Fauna and Flora International, Howell Marine Consulting, and the Universities of Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Past Sea Scotland conferences have attracted a wide range of Scottish marine stakeholders, providing a multi-interest forum for dialogue and knowledge-exchange for progressive marine policy and management.
Sea Scotland 2023 Objectives:
- Explore the interactions of existing and emerging marine policy frameworks across key areas of Scotland’s seas (including land-sea boundaries), highlighting gaps in understanding or key sticking points, and consider actions needed to address these (including join up with existing actions).
- Facilitate ‘blue seas thinking’ by identifying collaborative opportunities and holistic working across sectors and policy areas that support the sustainable development of Scotland’s seas.
- Consider how a truly ecosystem-based approach to management of marine activities can deliver for people, planet and prosperity.
