Due to the COVID-19 global emergency, the AWEA Regional Wind Energy Conference - Northeast has been cancelled.
This summer, AWEA will once again partner with Maine Ocean & Wind Industry Initiative for the Regional Wind Energy Conference – Northeast. The conference is scheduled for July 23-24, 2020 in Boston, Massachusetts. Whether you’re already involved in wind project development in the Northeast, or want to learn more about entering into this region’s market, you must attend the AWEA Regional Wind Energy Conference – Northeast. Discuss significant issues related to land-based and offshore wind project development, get expert insight into the region’s growth potential, and learn how to position your company for the best return on your investments. This conference will give you and your company the tools you need to be successful in the Northeast market.
Program Topics will feature two tracks: onshore and offshore wind. The full agenda with session and speaker details will be posted soon, but will include the following topics:
- Emerging Wind Energy Policy Landscape – Policy enables and often drives development; state and regional experts will discuss those policies that can expand (or limit) the market for renewables in general and wind in particular
- Offshore Wind Opportunities in the Northeast – Since our last AWEA Regional Conference - Northeast in 2018, we've seen lots of progress along the east coast of the U.S. There are currently 15 active commercial leases for offshore wind development in the U.S. If these leases are fully built, there is the potential to support approximately 25 GW of offshore wind capacity. Industry experts and analysts believe that the U.S. offshore wind industry will continue to take off in the years ahead, bringing with it a new and prosperous American industry. Check out the latest Offshore Wind Fact Sheet.
- Operations & Maintenance – With more big projects coming online, asset management and optimization is critical to the lifetime of equipment. Experts share their ideas on how they keep their projects running efficiently despite planned and unplanned events.
- Transmission – The New England region boasts a number of new transmission projects and ideas, serving a variety of purposes. Learn more about the plans and opportunities.
- Corporate Purchasing – More wind energy is now being purchased by non-utility corporations than by utilities, reflecting the growing interest of large corporations and institutions in increasing their environmental stewardship and stabilizing their future energy costs. The panel will review the various purchasing options and arrangements as well as the motivations in this newly important demand driver for renewable energy.
