Location of Research

Atlantic Marine Energy Test Site, Annagh, Co. Mayo, Ireland

Key Findings

There will be no long-term fragmentation of the habitat. Reduction in species density in the intertidal area will be minimal and temporary. Most importantly there will be no changes to key indicators of conservation value.

Construction will take place outside the breeding seasons of resident or migratory bird species so as to minimize impacts on these species.

There will be no change to the key elements of the site including water quality and hydrology.

The positioning of an intertidal cable at Belderra Strand and the construction of a cable bay at the car park is not considered a threat to the conservation interests of the site.
