The University of the Aegean as a valid and high level academic - research Institution, which is active in modern and dynamic cognitive subjects, aspires  to consolidate and further strengthen its position in the Greek and international academic environment and to increase its attractiveness  in terms of and social crisis - while acting more vigorously, to strengthen the institutional, developmental and social cohesion of the Polynesian region of the Eastern Mediterranean. 

To achieve its vision, the University of the Aegean  invests in the quality of its academic composition  and in the  responsibility of its Scientific and Administrative Staff  and builds on the tradition of  innovation ,  interdisciplinarity  and  its social role .

Mission:

The mission of the University of the Aegean, a public University in Greece, is determined by three axes: 

Education :
Training is provided in three cycles:

1st cycle of studies, basic studies, Bachelor's Degree or Diploma of five years of study,

2nd cycle of studies, Postgraduate Studies, Postgraduate Diploma (MSc),

3rd cycle, Doctoral Studies, Doctoral Diploma (PhD).

In addition to these three institutional training cycles, additional Programs of scientific, interdisciplinary and professional specialization are provided, such as Programs that enhance the education of young Researchers (International Summer Schools), Training Programs and Lifelong Learning, etc., in order to cover needs of science and society. 

Research :
Basic and applied scientific research is conducted, of international scope, by all the Departments and the Scientific Staff of the University which is utilized at international, national, regional and local level, through various publications, conferences and projects (applied research, development interventions) etc. . 

Social contribution:
The entire University Community has a sense of responsibility for:

contribution and interventions at national level
offering and supporting local communities and contributing to the development of the areas where the University is located (South and North Aegean Regions), at educational, cultural and developmental level.
