Universidade Federal do Acre
On March 25, 1964, through State Decree No. 187, published in the State Official Gazette on April 4 of the same year, the Faculty of Law was created (State Law No. 15, of September 8, 1964). It was later recognized by Opinion No. 660, of September 4, 1970, from the Federal Council of Education, and by Presidential Decree No. 67,534, of November 11, 1970.
In 1968, the Faculty of Economic Sciences was created. Following that came the courses in Literature, Pedagogy, Mathematics (full degree), and Social Studies (short course). Thus, on March 3, 1970, the University Center of Acre was officially established, bringing together these five courses.
The Acre University Center became the University of Acre on January 22, 1971, under the Foundation regime, comprising the Faculties of Law and Economic Sciences. The federalization of the University of Acre was finalized on April 5, 1974, through Law No. 6,025 .
