Universidade Federal da Paraíba
The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) was created by State Law 1,366, of December 2, 1955, and established under the name University of Paraíba as a result of the merger of several higher education institutions.
Later, with its federalization, approved and enacted by Law No. 3,835 of December 13, 1960, it was transformed into the Federal University of Paraíba, incorporating the existing university structures in the cities of João Pessoa and Campina Grande.
Since its federalization, UFPB has developed a growing multi-campus structure , distinguishing itself, in this aspect, from other federal universities in the country's higher education system, which generally have their activities concentrated in a single urban area. This uniqueness is expressed by its operation across seven campuses located in the cities of João Pessoa, Campina Grande, Areia, Bananeiras, Patos, Sousa, and Cajazeiras.
