Project Maya

Project Maya is a Community Interest Company founded in 2010. We chose the name 'Maya' in January 2010. Loosely translated from Sanskrit, Maya means "Eternal Illusion". For us, the illusion is that we are separate from one another, and from nature. But Maya has multiple meanings, complementary to our aims, Maya is the name of a collapsed civilisation, reminding us that we need to take an enlightened approach to avoid collapse in the present. As Buddha's mother's name, Maya also reminds us of our goal to birth a new way of managing land. By placing ‘Project’ alongside Maya we are reminded that we have a purpose that we are aiming to complete.
