Japan Bird Research Association

Recent changes of environment have accelerated the rate of species extinction and increased the number of rapidly declining species in the wild. On the other hand, some species have recovered or increased their populations, which has brought them into conflict with humans. In order to resolve the conflict and coexist in harmony with wildlife, it is essential to collect basic data, such as distribution and ecology of each wildlife species and assess the situation to prepare for effective management programs. It is of vital importance to establish a database system where amateur workers as well as professional research scientists collect and share those data to attain the above goal.  We intend to engage in the following activities with the cooperation of our members and other organizations, such as academic research institutes and the Wild Bird Society of Japan.
