Sandia National Labs recently completed a new round of testing with their “WaveBot” device at the US Navy’s Maneuvering and Sea Keeping (MASK) basin to further explore WEC co-design principles. The experiment utilized a tunable magnetic spring, custom motor drive, and detailed multi-stage power measurements. Open-source data from the test is now available on MHK-DR, along with a test report, and example MATLAB scripts for reproducing the results.
