The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory was scheduled to host a webinar for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Enabling Coexistence Options for Wind Energy and Wildlife (ECO Wind) project titled “The Importance of Upstream Research for Understanding Wind Energy and Wildlife Interactions,” originally planned for 26 August 2025, from 11:00am–12:00pm EDT (3:00–4:00pm UTC). The event has been postponed until further notice.
Speakers were set to discuss the role and value of “upstream” research for applied wind and wildlife issues, including a presentation on the recent publication “Bats Flying Through a Y-Maze Are Visually Attracted to Wind Turbine Surfaces,” and another on biologically inspired warning patterns to deter birds from wind turbines, as well as modeling turbine conspicuousness using image analysis.
Stay tuned for updates on the new date and time.
