The offshore wind industry faces the challenge of decoupling emissions from its growth to align with Net Zero Emission scenarios. Today, offshore wind farms already produce energy with a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuel-based energy sources. However, under the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook Net Zero Emissions scenario, projected emissions intensity requirements for global energy production underscore the need for continued efforts to decarbonise the sector and achieve a Net Zero energy future.
The Carbon Trust, together with the 12 offshore wind developers that formed the Sustainability Joint Industry programme are pleased to present the lifecycle carbon footprinting guidance for the offshore wind sector. These developers came together to support the industry in creating a standard methodology and guidance on how to measure and address offshore wind farms’ carbon emissions throughout their life cycle.
Join The Carbon Trust for a webinar that will feature industry experts and offer valuable insights into the background of the methodology, as well as how it can be used and who could be expected to use it.
The event is suited for anyone working in the industry with a role in considering carbon impacts, where the methodology may be relevant to companies from across the supply chain, consultants, academics, and other developers.
Agenda:
- Presentation of the industry-led methodology for calculating the full carbon footprint of offshore wind farms, led by the Carbon Trust footprinting team.
- A panel discussion formed of several of the Sustainability Joint Industry Programme developers and key industry representatives who have been part of the journey of the methodology.
- Q&A session
