The U.S. Portal and Repository for Information on Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMRE) and Ocean Energy Systems (OES) team hosted the 5th International Marine Energy Data Sharing Workshop online on Tuesday, 17 June 2025 from 3:00-5:00 PM UTC.
Past workshops featured presentations and small group discussions focused on:
- Marine energy data resources available around the world (e.g., databases, portals, tools)
- The value of data sharing, barriers to data sharing, and opportunities to overcome them
- Data sharing principles (e.g., FAIR, FARR)
- Potential applications of machine learning (e.g., large language models)
The 2025 workshop continued this collaborative effort with updates on several international marine energy resources (from Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom) and discussions focused on how marine energy data systems track metrics, understand their audience, and measure impact to justify continued funding.
Workshop Materials
- Introduction to Workshop & PRIMRE Updates (Speaker: Jon Weers, NREL)
- Data Infrastructure for the Blue Economy (Speaker: Louise Bruce, BMT)
- Marine Data Exchange, analytics and their use for database improvement (Speaker: Harry Richardson, The Crown Estate)
