This webinar on October 16, 2023 (11AM - 1PM ET) is being held to discuss the draft document, "Guidance for Pre- and Post-Construction Monitoring to Detect Changes in Marine Bird Distributions and Habitat Use Related to Offshore Wind Development."
The goal of this document is to advance recommendations for the effective detection and characterization of changes in the distributions and habitat use of marine birds in relation to offshore wind (OSW) energy development. This, in turn, is intended to inform site-specific monitoring and research of individual OSW lease areas.
The guidance document was developed by a committee of the Offshore Wind Environmental Technical Working Group (E-TWG), which was co-chaired by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. The committee is hosting a webinar to present the draft document for stakeholder input, with a public feedback period to follow. The webinar will be professionally facilitated by the Consensus Building Institute.
