Are you interested in working to help build a renewable energy future? Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) hosted an informational Marine Energy Career Panel on 17 September, 2025 featuring U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory staff working to advance the marine energy industry.
Staff across various research disciplines discussed their marine energy careers (past, present, and future) including their background, education, career path, and current projects. In addition, topics including mentorship, networking, and interpersonal communication skills were addressed to extend advice to students who are preparing to graduate and enter into internship experiences or the marine energy workforce. This webinar was aimed at current students and those interested in working in the marine energy industry

- Courtney Jones (NREL) - modeler
- Emma Cotter (PNNL) - ocean engineer
- Hayley Farr (PNNL) - environmental scientist
- Rachid Darbali-Zamora (Sandia) - power systems modeling/grid integration
The Marine Energy Career Panel included a brief introduction to NREL, PNNL, and Sandia followed by introductions from each of our panelists and a moderated Q&A session. The panel ended by highlighting opportunities for internships, fellowships, and more.
