Abstract
I 2007 vart det etablert eit samarbeid mellom Vattenfall (Vattenfall Research and Development og Generation Nordic Countries), Runde miljøsebter (RMS) og Tussa Kraft AS i Noreg. Formålet med samarbeidet er å fremje utvikling og seinare bruk av fornybar energi frå havet, gjennom utprøving, arbeid og formidling i Runde miljøsenter.
Vattenfall har gjennom fleire år samarbeidd med Universitetet i Uppsala om utvikling av ein spesiell teknologi for utnytting av bølgeenergi gjennom Seabased selskapet med anlegget med same namn. Vattenfall deltar bland anna i finansieringa av eit forskningsanlegg med Seabased sin teknikk på den svenske vestkysten. Det har likevel vore ønskjer hos Vattenfall for å teste teknikken i eit hardare bølgjeklima med større bølgjehøgder, for å undersøke korleis slike harde belastningar påverkar teknologiens funksjonalitet, haldbarheit og livslengde.
Nyare studiar av bølgjeklimaet langs norskekysten (ENOVA 2007, Runde miljøsenter 2007) synte at området utanfor Sunnmøre er det mest energirike på heile norskekysten. Energien i bølgjene er 10 gongar høgare enn på svenskekysten. Detta området er difor vurdert av Vattenfall å vere veleigna for å gjennomføre testar som omtalt i dette dokumentet.
I lys av dette ønskjer Vattenfall å få prøvd ut Seabased anlegget under forsvarlege og kontrollerte tilhøver på Sunnmøre. Gjennom kontaktane med Runde miljøsenter og Tussa har ein blitt samde om at Runde med miljøsenteret er eit eigna utgangspunkt for slik utprøving.
Runde miljøsenter vil stå ferdig hausten 2008. Senteret vil fremje miljømessig berekraft på ei rad område, herunder bruk at fornybar energi. Med lokaliseringa ligg det godt til rette for å arbeide med fornybar energi frå havet, herunder bølgjeenergi. Møre og Romsdal fylke har i sine planer teikna inn Runde miljøsenter som regionalt (midt-norsk) kompetansesenter for havenergi.

In 2007 there was established a collaboration between Vattenfall (Vattenfall research and Development and Generation Nordic Countries), Round miljøsebter (RMS) and Tussa Kraft AS in Norway. The purpose of the cooperation is to promote the development and subsequent use of renewable energy from the sea, through testing, work and communication in the Runde.
Vattenfall has several years cooperated with the University of Uppsala on the development of a special technology for the exploitation of wave energy through Seabased company with the facility with the same name. Vattenfall participates mix including the financing of a research facility with Seabased their technique on the Swedish west coast. It has nevertheless been at Vattenfall wants to test the technique in a harder wave climate with greater wave heights, examining how such heavy loading influence technology functionality, haldbarheit and longevity.
Recent studies of wave climate along the Norwegian coast (Enova 2007, Runde 2007) showed that the area outside Sunnmøre is the most energetic of the whole Norwegian coast. The energy in waves is 10 times higher than on the Swedish coast. This area is therefore considered by Vattenfall to be feasible to conduct tests as described in this document.
In light of this, Vattenfall wants to try out Seabased facility under military doctor and controlled conditions in Sunnmøre. Through contact with about the environmental center and has a Tussa been agreed that the Round with the environmental center is an appropriate starting point for such testing.
Runde Environmental Centre will be completed in autumn 2008. The center will promote environmental sustainability on a series of areas, including the use of the renewable energy.
