The Waves to Water Prize's DRINK Finale was designed to be a five-day open-ocean testing period at Jennette's Pier in North Carolina, where finalists could test their wave-powered desalination devices. However, the 2022 DRINK Finale concluded sooner due to unexpected high winds and aggressive waves that untethered the devices, leading to a shortened, though still successful, test of the systems.
