OES-Environmental hosted a public webinar, “Supporting Consenting Processes for Marine Renewable Energy: International Perspectives” on October 2, 2025. The webinar included presentations from OES-Environmental, The Crown Estate, and AZTI.
OES-Environmental provided an overview of ongoing research and coordination efforts on environmental effects of marine renewable energy to support responsible development, including best management practices for risk retirement.
Sarah Wren from The Crown Estate introduced the data transferability matrix, a UK focused framework developed to provide a systematic approach to discussions on the necessary monitoring required for tidal stream projects.
Juan Bald from AZTI and Anne Marie O'Hagan from University College Cork (UCC) shared insights from the SafeWAVE project, highlighting collaborative efforts in Europe to overcome non-technological barriers to the development of marine renewable energy.
