Ocean waves and currents are tremendous sources of energy that can improve energy security and reliability while also benefitting the ocean environment. To advance marine energy responsibly, we must understand how marine fauna and ocean ecosystems will interact with marine energy conversion devices in the water.
This event is a behind the scenes lab tour and presentation by some of the world's leading experts on environmental monitoring of marine energy. Leading-edge monitoring technologies will be showcased, like an integrated instrumentation system that captured footage of fish, birds, and marine mammals near a small tidal turbine tested in Sequim Bay, WA.
Due to event space limitations, public registrations will begin to be approved on a first come first served basis October 10th.
