The time on this entry is a placeholder and is not representative of the event time.
The focus of the symposium is on the dynamics of wind-generated waves from the deep ocean to the nearshore zone, bringing together research that includes numerical and physical modelling, field observations and remote sensing. We are excited to relaunch this series following a hiatus after the last successful event in 2017. We are also expanding to formally include our colleagues from New Zealand.
Similar to previous instances, the meeting will include oral presentations with time also reserved for discussion to identify key research questions and priorities within the community.
The symposium will take place over two days, and will encompass a number of research themes including:
- Wave climate
- Nearshore processes
- Wave physics
- Wave-structure interactions
- Observational methods
The two-day symposium will be directly followed by the Forum for Operational Oceanography (FOO) hosted by Australia's Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) on 19th‐20th November 2025 at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, WA.
Given the event will be directly followed by FOO, the symposium will focus on wind wave research with operational aspects covered in FOO.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 1 August 2025.
