AB - This paper builds on the existing literature and the experiences gained by those involved in the wave and tidal energy industry (obtained through telephone interviews with eleven stakeholders in the regulatory and development sectors). The consensus from those interviewed is that effects of wave and tidal technologies on fish and shellfish ecology are generally considered less of a priority than effects on fisheries. However, fisheries impacts are not within the scope of this position paper and are therefore not discussed further.The aim of this paper is to highlight key fish and shellfish issues and potential impacts that have arisen during the development of wave and tidal technologies, and to provide a consolidated understanding of the wave and tidal industry, knowledge gaps and key experiences.
