AB - The function of this environmental description is to inform potential developers intending to test devices at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) of the environment within which the tidal test site at the Fall of Warness is located. The description covers the character of the physical, biological and human aspects and includes conservation areas around the Fall of Warness. Meteorological and hydrographical information will be supplied separately by EMEC as well as more detailed environmental information as appropriate.The following sections provide a description of each important environmental characteristic. A summary figure of the environmental and seasonal sensitivities is displayed in Figure 3.1.
