TY - RPRT TI - A Radar Study of Nocturnal Bird Migration at the Proposed Mount Storm Wind Power Development, West Virginia, Fall 2003 AU - Mabee, T AU - Cooper, B AU - Plissner, J AB - This report presents the results of a radar study of bird migration conducted during 3 September-7 October 2003 at the proposed Mt. Storm wind power development, located in northeastern West Virginia. Radar observations were conducted for ~6 h/night on 45 nights. The primary objectives of this study were to (1) collect baseline information on flight directions, migration passage rates, and flight altitudes of nocturnal passerine migrants at the proposed project area during fall 2003; (2) determine if nocturnal migrants concentrate along the proposed Allegheny Front within the project area; and (3) determine if there is variation in the amount or altitude of migrants at up to three locations along the ridge at a 1,500 m radius scale.
