Benthic Invertebrates

Benthic invertebrates is a broad term that encompasses cephalopods (squid, octopus), crustaceans (crabs, shrimp), molluscs (clams, barnacles), and various other benthic organisms. Many species are important to commercial harvesting as a food source. Cephalopods have shown to be highly sensitive to acoustic inputs from man-made devices, affecting the balance and sensory capabilities. Certain invertebrates that are unable to move away from EMF or noise pollution may suffer resulting long-term trauma.
