Abstract:

In addition to the report Offshore Wind Energy in the North Sea Region - or in short the Quick Scan - the workstream planning and participation will have a deeper look into offshore planning and realisation processes of each of the members states involved in the POWER project. The objective of the "Case Study of Offshore Wind Farms" is to analyse experiences and lessons learned by developers of offshore wind farms in order to generate recommendations about “good planning and realisation processes” in the North Sea Region. The following best practice project examples were selected:

  • Scroby Sands - UK
  • Greater Gabbard - UK
  • Thornton Bank - Belgium
  • Egmond aan Zee - The Netherlands
  • Borkum West - Germany
  • Butendiek - Germany
  • Horns Rev - Denmark
  • Nysted - Denmark

The study was accomplished by DENA – Deutsche Energie-Agentur (G), Deutsche WindGuard (G), and the University of Groningen (NL) under responsibility of the Senator for Construction, Environment & Transport, Free State of Bremen (G).
