Now in its thirteenth year, the REcharge Academy is an educator training program focused around renewable energy. The intensive training blends lectures from experts and tours of energy facilities with replicable, hands-on K–12 lessons. The 2020 Academy will focus on wind power and the future of offshore wind.
Over the past 12 years, more than 450 educators from all over the world have attended REcharge Academies and impacted thousands of students and educators. Educators who attend a REcharge Academy may incorporate lessons and curricula into their own classrooms or expand their efforts and work with local schools and districts to share resources or train other teachers in wind and solar.
Scholarships are available, and the application deadline for the final round is May 1. DOE’s NREL provides funding support for REcharge Academy scholarships.
